Why the Discard Pile Matters
The discard pile is the only public information in Rummy. Smart players use this information to track which cards are dead and which suits their opponents are collecting.
When to Pick Up
Pick up when the card completes a pure sequence, when it connects to 2+ cards in your hand, or when it is a middle card (5-8) that is harder to find.
When to Pass
Pass when the card only connects to one card in your hand or when picking would reveal your strategy.
